This course provides stimulating and rigorous studies in Organic Chemistry with blend of strong industry interaction in order to contribute to the future supply of professionally qualified, broadly trained medicinal chemists for research and industry.  This is achieved at CKM through an ever going process of feedback, brain storming sessions and evolution of curriculum to remain aligned with the emerging needs of pharmaceutical industry and research in premier institutions.  The curriculum maintains a healthy balance of depth and breadth of knowledge and experimental skills encompassing the strong conceptual base with the topping of contemporary issues and trends.

We take pride in being poineer in introducing an elective paper called Medicinal Chemistry in M.Sc IV semester.  Medicinal Chemistry is an interdisciplinary research area incorporating synthetic organic chemistry, bio chemistry, pharmacology, molecular biology and pharmaceutical chemistry.

The aim of this course is to provide the post graduate students with an integrated broad based training in various disciplines of medicinal chemistry involving the most advanced research methodology in organic synthesis.

The Course was started in English Medium also to facilitate the student from Rural Background.

Before introducing M.Sc. Chemistry, a workshop was organized on Drugs & Drug Industry sponsored by UGC on
18th  August, 1991. In this workshop, guidance was formulated for M.Sc. Chemistry.

The Department of Chemistry is recognized as Research center.

1998 -  Proposals sent to Kakatiya University for the recognition of the Department of Chemistry C.K.M College as Research Center

1991 -  M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry) course started.

1997 -   The Department of Chemistry was recognized as Research Centre.

Dr.B.Vijaya Kumar and  Dr.M.Sadashivashankar were recognized as Research Supervisors.
