About Us

The Chanda Kanthaiah Memorial Arts & Science College, a premier educational institution in Telangana and the First Undergraduate College in private sector in Warangal, was established on the name of noted Philanthropist Late Acharya Chanda Kanthaiah on 3 October, 1968 in Desaipet Village adjacent to Warangal town.

The emergence of an educational institution, in a country like ours, which is rapidly developing in all spheres, was a great boon. There was not even a single Degree College existing in the District in the Government sector, except the University Arts & Science College located at Subedari, Hanamkonda for catering to the Higher Education requirements when C.K.M College was established. The Birth of a college like C.K.M. was really a notable event in the history of this great city. The resolution of quite a few distinguished citizens of Warangal who met in the premises of the Chamber of Commerce at the suggestion of late Dr.D.S.Reddy, the then Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University on 21 August,1968 proved to be a breakthrough in the prevailing educational backwardness of the area. The noted Philanthropist and Champion of Education in the private sector, Acharya Chanda Kanthaiah, in whose name the College stands today donated one lakh rupees for the purpose through A.V.V. Sangham,Warangal. This initiative gained fillip with the encouragement given by the public and the students. The M.L.A., Dr. T.S. Murthy, the Zilla Parishad Chairman Sri. P.DharmaReddy, Sri.P.Uma Reddy, Chairman of Municipality, Sri.R. Mruthyanjayalingam, President, Chamber of Commerce; Sri.J.Mutha Reddy, M.L.C., Sri.E.Thotham Reddy, Industrialist, Prof.K.Venkatramaiah, Principal,Arts & Science College, Warangal, Sri. inaugurated by Sri.T.Vedantam, I.A.S., the then District Collector on 15 September,1968. While Correspondent, while Late Dr.T.Vasudev, Former Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University, was entrusted with the stewardship as the Founder Principal.

The C.K.M College Management headed by the District Collector as the President and Principal as Secretary-cum-Correspondent and other enlightened members drawn from different walks of life, the continuous support  of Government of Andhra Pradesh and Public is playing a pioneering role in the Educational development of Warangal district.

In recognition of the selfless services rendered by the College for the cause of Higher Education, the Government of Andhra Pradesh admitted this College into 100% grant-in-Aid w.e.f. 01-04-1973.

The C.K.M. College in its long journey of serving the Higher Education needs of Warangal successfully completed its 42 years of fruitful existence and has celebrated its silver jubilee from 9 to 11 February in 1994. The all round development of the College all these years could become possible due to the committed and sustained efforts of the successive Principals.
